An Article of Faith

Jessie J. Charpentier Sr.

Anyone who has studied the revivals of Scripture and history will tell you the same thing ... there has never been a revival without there first being a movement of prayer. Every revival in the history of the world has been given birth to, nurtured, and/or cradled in prayer. As Matthew Henry said, “When God intends great mercy for His people, the first thing He does is to set them a-praying.”
God is calling His people to prayer today in order to awaken and empower the church in revival. Prayer prepares the ground of the human heart to receive all that the Lord has for us.
The prayer of repentance deals with the sin that so often blocks the flow of the Holy Spirit. The prayer of worship invites the Lord to come in glory. The prayer of intercession pleads with the Lord to send His transforming power. It is time to pray!
The prayer requests sent in to Fulton Street during the Prayer Revival of 1857-1858, though sent from all types of people, from all types of vocations, and from all parts of the nation, had one common denominator: a burning passion for God’s glory!
Will you join with thousands of your brothers and sisters in Christ to pray for revival in the United States? The need in our nation is great! God is calling many to respond to this need in prayer.
Will you be one who prays?
Imagine thousands of bold witnesses sharing biblical truth and revival testimonies across the nation – people from all walks of life who share a vision for revival. Ask God to raise up many who will use their gifts of writing, speaking, sharing, singing, networking, or teaching to spread the call for revival and spiritual awakening.
In every revival, the fires spread through the power of a changed life. It is well documented that the fame of revival spreads the flame of revival. Or as someone said, “Revival spreads on the wings of testimonies.” Will you carry the life-changing message of God’s presence and power to the those around you? Like a modern-day John the Baptist, will you help prepare the way for the Lord’s coming in revival? (Taken and adapted from: OneCry: A Nationwide Call for Spiritual Awakening. Visit www.onecry.com.)
“If My people,” declares the LORD, “who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV.)
