An Article of Faith

What happens when the believers and Christian campus ministries on a college campus come together to believe God to ignite hearts and transform their campus?
At Montana State University, 14 campus ministry leaders from six different ministry groups decided to find out. They came together to seek the Lord for revival in a two-day prayer summit led by Collegiate Impact, a sister ministry to OneCry, and formed an alliance called a Jericho Partnership, to work together to see “the walls come down” that are blocking God’s power and presence on campus.
The results have been encouraging. Mark, executive director for the US Campus Ministry of CRU, stated after visiting the campus, “I know of no campus closer to revival than Montana State University.” Since Mark’s observation, the work of God’s Spirit has only intensified. One of the campus ministry leaders at Montana State, Seth, shares this story of what God has been doing:
“Last night, April 28, I walked into this semester’s final Campus Crusade weekly meeting. There was something different about this CRU meeting: the expectancy that God wanted to move on our campus was [noticeable].
“Shortly after my arrival at the meeting, over 400 college students packed into the sanctuary. We worshiped God, students shared testimonies of how they repented from a life of sin and started following Christ. After the band took the stage to close the night in worship, hardly a soul moved toward the doors. What ensued was some of the most joyful, genuine corporate worship I have ever experienced. This was not a typical CRU meeting, because this was not a typical year at MSU!
“But for me, the academic year began with a fall in the area of sexual purity. Subsequently, I felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit and confessed my sin to others. I had a new desire to make my truer self known to my brothers in Christ, and immense healing followed.
“What I did not expect to follow were the ripple effects this would have at MSU. A few weeks after my confession. About 40 male student leaders, our campus staff men, spent a weekend seeking God’s purity at a cabin retreat. Many men turned to God that night, evidenced by painful tears and public confessions. We left the weekend broken and humble before the Lord, with a new urgency to live in purity.
“As the year progressed, a greater sense of joy in the Lord grew among the students. It could be witnessed at our prayer meetings, in small groups, at our weekly large group meetings, and in the testimonies of people who were coming to know Christ on our campus.”
Can you imagine what could happen if students on campuses across America would experience life in Jesus Christ in such a deep, powerful, and contagious way that the entire campus would be aflame with the glory of God? “If My people,” declares the LORD, “who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV.)
