There is a movement afoot to raise up to $50,000 for a statue to be placed on the LSU-Eunice campus in recognition of the life and music of Amédé Ardoin, the accordion player who is widely recognized as one of the patriarchs of Louisiana French music.

This morning it was incredibly beautiful outside. I took my latest book, a cup of coffee, and sat on my front deck for over an hour enjoying the cool breeze. Sadly, by 8:45 a.m. the slight wind shifted to the south and it began to get warm. But how heavenly it was for a little while.

No news on the FAS/St. Martin Parish/levee issue. We’re still waiting for the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources to notify us of the hearing which they promised to hold before giving their verdict on the FAS application.
