Breaux Bridge Police Department requalifies with their weapons
By Ken Grissom
Breaux Bridge – Nearly all of the city’s commissioned police officers have been requalified with their service weapons, Lt. Hubert Augustine reported at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
The officers were subjected to a rigorous training and testing schedule – similar to the testing required of rookies when they take the P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards and Training) course – because they had either failed to keep up with the annual requalification requirement or the resulting paperwork had been misplaced.
Responding to questions from the council, Augustine said he isn’t certain how the lapse occurred.
He that there is still one officer who has not requalified because of illness.
