Virginia Copp Olivier

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 12 noon, on Friday, February 14, 2014, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Virginia Copp Olivier, 64, who passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at St. Martinville Rehab & Nursing Center.
A rosary was recited on Thursday.
Rev. Austin Leger officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Cassie Landry and Tori Olivier. Gift Bearers were Cassie Landry, Tori Olivier, and Kylie Olivier. Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Virginia was a bus driver for the School Board and Health Center for 28 years. She loved to camp in the Basin with her husband and also enjoyed fishing, cooking with her family and spending time with her granddaughters. Virginia enjoyed life to the fullest – she loved dancing, partying and having a good time.
A devout Catholic, Virginia a member of Martha’s Guild and was an Ambassador of Mary; often bringing the statue of the Virgin Mary into her home and inviting others to come and pray a Novena.
She is survived by her son, David Olivier and wife, Melanie “Mel” Borel Olivier, of St. Martinville; her daughter, Patricia O. Landry and husband, Thimothy “T.J.” Landry of St. Martinville; three sisters, Dorothy C. Babin of Jeanerette, Helen C. Verret of Jeanerette, and Hazel C. Broussard and husband, Calvin “Kelly” of Carencro; and three grandchildren, Cassie Landry, Tori Olivier, and Kylie Olivier, all of St. Martinville.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Allen Olivier; her parents, Euclide and Dalzire Albert Copp; and her brother, Dudley Copp, Sr.
Pallbearers were David Olivier, T.J. Landry, Dylan Hebert, Alex Verret, Jr., Jason Segura, and Chester Verret, III.
Honorary pallbearer was Calvin “Kelly” Broussard.
The family would also like to extend a special “Thank You” to Paramont Hospice and St. Martinville Rehab and Nursing Center.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville, was in charge of arrangements.
