Viola Francis

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Viola Francis, 90, who passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski officiated at the Funeral Mass. Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo and attending family activities. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and admired her. Viola will be remembered for all the wonderful meals she prepared for her family at special occasions.
She is survived by her husband, Mitchell “Michelle” Francis Sr. of St. Martinville; sons, Frank (Annette) Francis of St. Martinville, Johnny Francis of St. Martinville, Clay (Sharlene) Francis of St. Martinville, Mitchell (Gwendolyn) Francis Jr. of Parks, William (Joan) Francis of Louisville, Ken.; his daughters, Mary “Fee” (Don) Williams of Port Arthur, Texas, Anna “ToeToe” (Joseph) Durand of St. Martinville, Joan “Kissie” Hurst of St. Martinville; 40 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gertie M. Landry of St. Martinville; and niece, Mae Ella Mitchell of St. Martinville.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Matthew George; father, Nicholl George; brothers, Paul George, Adam George and Russell George; son-in-law, Robert Hurst; nephews, Paul George and Russell George Jr.; grandchild, Donovan Aubry; great-great-grandchild, Angel D. Williams; and sisters-in-law, Juanita George, Genevieve George and Ella Mae George
Pallbearers were Steven Francis, Clay M. Francis Jr., Brian Francis, William Francis Jr., Trey M. Tillman and Gerald Aubry Jr.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
