Theresa Gardemal Barras
Catahoula – A Mass of Christian burial wasconducted for Mrs. Floyd James Barras, the former Theresa Gardemal, 77, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at St. Rita’s Catholic Church with Fr. Ricahrd Fabre officiating.
Interment followed at St. Michael’s Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Visitation was held from 3:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at the Dion Hall. The Dion Hall reopened at 8 a.m. on Saturday until service time.
A native of St. Martinville and resident of Catahoula, Mrs. Barras passed away at1:23 a.m. on, Friday, June 17, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Barras was the owner of Les Barras Bait and also managed many restaurants in this area as well. Theresa enjoyed going to the casino and playing poker machines with her sister Dasiy. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Danny J. Barras and wife Janice of Breaux Bridge, Terry B. Barras and wife Wendy of Coteau and Dale J. Barras of Catahoula; nine grandchildren, Jessica John, Jena Barras; Jackie Schexnayder, Tyson Barras, Triston Barras, Joannie Comeaux, Dale J. Barras Jr., Zachary Barras and Paul Robin; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Curtis Gardemal of Coteau Holmes; and one sister, Daisy Laviolette of Catholua.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd James Barras; her parents, Marcel and Linda Dugas Gardemal; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth R. Barras; granddaughter, Kristen Ambri Barras; and her siblings, Hazel Stevens, Mazel Romero and Shirley Guidry.
Pallbearers were Dale Barras Jr., Zachary Barras, Tyson Barras, David Laviolette, Errol Laviolette and Blake Comeaux. Eric “Boo” Laviolette, Donnnie “Bee” Laviolette and Luke Stevens served as honorary pallbearers.
