Sylvan ‘Jun’ Doré Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Sylvan “Jun” Doré Jr., 84, who passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015.
Visiting hours were observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continued on Friday at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Fr. Mario Romero officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Ashley Doré Haynes and Cae’ly Delahoussaye Romero. Gift Bearers were Colten Doré and Colby Delahoussaye.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2.
“Jun,” as he was better known to his family and friends, was a retired horse trainer and also worked in several fields of work throughout his life including ice making, drilling water wells, farming, dairy farming, farming several crawfish ponds, welding and oilfield work, which always enabled him to provide for his family. He was a man with a passion for life who loved cooking for his family, riding horses, and Thoroughbred horse racing. “Jun” was “one-of-a-kind” and there will never be another man like him.
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Barras Doré; his sons, Ralph Doré and wife Veronica, Jayce Doré and Beverly, and Todd Doré and Rachel; step-children, Dwayne Delahoussaye and wife Bridgette, Danny Delahoussaye and wife Celeste, and Dawn Bourque and husband Ricky; his grandchildren, Frannie and husband Greg, Ashley and husband Jared, Jayde and wife Erin, Jeannine, Mark, Colten, Jake and Chasity, Jana and husband Andy, Courtney, Cody, Carly, Cae’ly and husband Randy, Colby, Sage, Trent, Karli and husband Tyler, Brylan, Kennedy, Whitney and husband Josh, Morgan, Kamryn, and Natalie; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvan Doré Sr. and Emilie Guidry Doré; his first wife, Lunez Boudreaux Doré; his son, Mark A. Doré; and his siblings, Maydel Cormier, Marie Hebert, Esther Cormier, Whitney Doré and William Doré.
Pallbearers were Ralph Doré, Todd Doré, Jayce Doré, Jake Doré, Dwayne Delahoussaye and Danny Delahoussaye.
Honorary pallbearers were Jayde Doré and Courtney Delahoussaye.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
