Shirley Mae P. Champagne
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Shirley Mae Poirier Champagne, 75, who passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
Visiting hours were observed from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Fr. Rusty Richard officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Lorrie Poirier and Donna Lou Landry. Gift Bearers were Janine, Jesse and Zack Flores
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Shirley enjoyed playing Pokeno, going to the casino, cooking, working in her flower beds, fishing and hunting – she admired all things that nature provided. She loved her family unconditionally and enjoyed all of their visits.
She is survived by her sons, Teddy Champagne and wife Monica of Lafayette, and Dale Champagne and wife Dodie, of Broussard; her brother, Darrell Poirier and wife Dana of Breaux Bridge; and five grandsons, Blaise, Joshua, Drake, Daylen and Dawson Champagne.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lennis Champagne; her parents, Clovis and Yola Champagne Poirier; and her brother, Harold Paul Poirier.
Pallbearers were Teddy Champagne, Dale Champagne, Darrell Poirier, Blaise Champagne, Joshua Champagne and Drake Champagne.
Honorary pallbearers were Daylen Champagne, Dawson Champagne, Jimmy Poirier and David Poirier.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
