She really enjoyed cooking, shopping, spending time with family, playing games on her iPad, playing video games especially Mario Bros. on Nintendo and she always had a heart of gold by opening-up her home to everyone regardless of their circumstances. She loved driving her school bus and her kids definitely knew she was a force to be reckoned with, in her words, “Serina don’t play.” She was a true lover of animals from dogs, birds, rabbits, fish and whatever else she could bring into her home, but you couldn’t put her within 10 feet of a snake. She’s truly loved and will be missed by family, friends, T-Boy (her dog), but most of all her children.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Joseph Pickney Sr.; daughters, Monika Dunnelle Porter and spouse Darlene of St. Martinville, and Charlie Sharron Kately and spouse Selby of St. Martinville; son, Dexter Keith Porter of St. Martinville; sisters, Patricia Cormier of Cade, Veronica Cormier of Pensacola, Fla., Marjorie Cormier of Pensacola, Fla., Katina C. Perkins of Pensacola, Fla., Karen Broussard of St. Martinville and Leslie Daniels of Baton Rouge; brothers, Chester Cormier of Cade and Danny Daniels of Gretna; grandchildren, Iannigel Lewis, De’Von Powell, I’Nyah Kately, Indea Kately, Irionne Kately, Imrie Kately, Selby Kately Jr., and Isla Kately; great-grandchild, I’Miyah Lewis; and her aunt, Geraldine Diggs and husband Gregory of St. Martinville.
