Samuel Patrick Savoy

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Samuel Patrick Savoy, 58, who passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at Heart Hospital of Lafayette.
Visiting hours were observed from 7 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Saturday at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville. A rosary was prayed at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Connor Patrick Savoy and Steven Jones. Gift bearers were Britley Savoy, Catherine Savoy-Williams and Janay Savoy.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Samuel was a Certified Welding Specialist and educator at SLCC for 23 years. He also enjoyed doing carpentry and mechanic work. Samuel was an avid outdoorsman, a hunter and fisherman. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pamela Fontenot Savoy; daughter, Kouminique Savoy; sons, Todd Patrick (Dr. Shamekia Nwafor) Savoy and Connor Patrick Savoy; grandchild, Miles Vincent Patrick Savoy; brothers, Whitney (Mary Joyce) Savoy, Wilson (Willie Mae) Savoy, Willie Allen (Margaret) Savoy, Frederick Savoy, Jasper (Janice) Savoy and Charles Savoy; and sisters, Mary Joyce, Monitta (Alvin) Jones, Zelma (Leroy) Banks and Camille Savoy.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samson and Ida Marie George Savoy; brother, Charlie Joseph Savoy Sr.; father-in-law, John Murphy Fontenot; and brother-in-law, John Gary Fontenot.
Pallbearers were Todd Patrick Savoy, Connor Patrick Savoy, Lawrence Williams, Chris George, Jerimiah Brown and Andre James.
Honorary pallbearers were all of his brothers; Christopher Fontenot, Michael Fontenot, Damien Jones, Elliot Savoy and John Savoy.
Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
