Ronald Joseph Champagne
St. Martinville – A Funeral Service was held at 3 .p.m on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home for Ronald Joseph Champagne, 69, who passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Visiting hours were observed from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Monday at Pellerin Funeral Home.
Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert officiated at the Funeral Service. Interment followed at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Ronald was a veteran of the Vietnam War, honorably serving his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, raising his rabbits, and caring for his dogs. Ronald will be remembered for the love he had for his family and spending time with them gave him a sense of joy.
He is survived by his sons, Brian Champagne and wife Rachel of Carriere, Miss., and Duane Champagne and wife Rae of Tyler, Texas; his daughter, Monica Smith and husband Michael of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and his grandchildren, Shelby Graham and spouse Jesse, Riley Jo Champagne, Johnathan Smith, Emily Kate Smith and Sawyer Champagne.
He was preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Ellen Darlene Hendricks Champagne; and his parents, Louis and Maude Thibodeaux Champagne.
Pallbearers were Tommy Boutte, Joey and Wiltz Bienvenu, Buck Barras, Chris Speir and Gary Lumpkin.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
