Mrs. Alberta ‘Bert’ Doucet

Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Alberta “Bert” Doucet, 82, on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Notre Dame Catholic Church. Father Augustinus Seran will be officiating.
Interment will be in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church from 7 a.m. until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. at the church.
A native and resident of St. Martinville, she passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Iberia General Hospital. She was better known as “Bert” to her family and friends. Bert worked multiple jobs till the day of her illness at the age of 78. She loved planting fl owers and sitting on the porch rocking of her rocker chair talking with family and friends.
She is survived by four sons, Early Doucet (Dartha Mae), Floyd Doucet (Mary) Shelton Doucet and Warren Doucet (Mary); two daughters, Elizabeth Doucet Vallaire (Floyd) and Geraldine Doucet Leon (Daniel Leon Sr.), all of St. Martinville; 20 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Early Doucet Sr.; parents, Lewis and Agnes Bourda; a son, Earl Doucet; a daughter Alberta Joseph; three grandchildren, Floyd Doucet Jr., Da Teria Leon and Daniellyn Leon; three brothers, Joseph Bourda, Willis
Bourda and Anthony Bourda; and a sister, Aldora Thompson.
Active pallbearers will be Bryan Doucet, Ryan Doucet, Early Doucet III, Brandon Batiste and Howard Skipper. Honorary pallbearers will be Early Doucet Jr., Warren Doucet, Floyd Doucet, Daniel Leon Sr., Shelton Doucet and Floyd Vallaire.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all who extended their extra help for her care: Mary Doucet, Terria Johnson, Marie Simon, Daniel Durand, Agnes Durand Jovontae Glover and Leontine James; her medical staff, Robicheaux Pharmacy and staff, Concept of Care Home Health, Hospice and staff, Dr. Daniel Wiltz and staff, St. Martinville Physical Therapy Clinic, Dr. Thomas Curry, Frenesius Dialysis and staff, Dr. Sique and Dr. Kuputa, Iberia Medical Center and staff, Dauterive Hospital and staff, Our Lady of Lourdes and staff, Dr. Boise Cherran at CSI, New Iberia Manor North and staff, St. Martin Parish Community Health Center and staff, Dr. McLurkin, Dr. Gilbert Pellerin, Dr. Darvins Hales, Dr. James Hebert, Dr. Moses Kitakule, Dr. Patrick Baquet, Sleep Solution and staff.
Extra, extra special thanks to her four grandsons who gave her last 82nd birthday party: Daniel Leon Jr., Early Doucet III, Bryan Doucet and Ryan Doucet.
