Maydell Price Lassere

St. Martinville – A Memorial Service was held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville for Maydell Price Lassere, 78, who passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until service time.
A rosary was prayed at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Ronald Savoy Sr. officiated at the Memorial Service.
In 1978 she was named Federal Women of the Year for the New Orleans area. During her membership in Civitan International, Maye was President of the New Orleans Chapter (1986-87; 1990-91) and received the Distinguished President Award each time. As Director of the LA South District (1987-88) she earned an award for Outstanding Leadership. As part of Civitan’s 75th year celebration in 1972, the Civitan Club of Birmingham, Alabama “The Mother Club of Civitan International” (Charter #1) honored Maye as “Honorary Mother” in Appreciation for her Support of Civitan’s Principles. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, participating in community services and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite time of the year was Carnival season in New Orleans.
She is survived by her daughter, Adele Lassere Kelly and husband Al of Sugar Hill, Ga.; son, Mark Lassere and wife Sandy; and granddaughter, Simone Lassere of Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Mazel Price Lee, and husband MacArthur of Houston, Texas, Rena M. Price of Irving, Texas, Marie Merlin Price and husband Michael Quinealty of St. Martinville, Marthaline Price Savoy and husband Ronald of Sunset, and Hattie Price Robertson and husband Jackie of Cade; brothers, Murphy J. Price Jr. of St. Martinville and Emick J. Price Sr. of St. Martinville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Madeline Savoy Price; father, Murphy J. Price Sr.; sister, Janita Price; and brothers, Harrison Price and Joseph Andrus Price.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
