Mattie Mae Simon

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Mattie Mae Simon, 83, who passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at her residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, and continue on Wednesday at 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Fr. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Mattie was the co-owner of Jean’s Grocery Store for 35 years. She enjoyed playing cards, trawling, gardening, going to the casino, traveling, playing ball with her great grandchildren, and visiting with family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, Russell Simon of New Iberia, Randell J. Simon of Breaux Bridge and Dana Simon of St. Martinville; her brothers, Harris Theriot and wife Marella of Cecilia and Gerald Roberts of Breaux Bridge; her sister, Estelle Roberts of Catahoula; her grandchildren, Christopher Simon and spouse Thi, Brandy S. Ledet and spouse Calvin, Brooke Simon, and Kayla S. Moynihan and spouse Ryan; and her great-grandchildren, Alana Simon, Treylan Linden, Andrew Simon, Alissa Simon, Nya Ledet and Ronan Moynihan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Simon; her mother, Odelia Theriot; her adopted parents who raised her, Mr. and Mrs. Randell Roberts; her brothers, Chester Theriot, Lester Theriot, Curtis Scott and Harold Roberts; and her sister, Marie T Babin.
Pallbearers will be Randell Simon, Christopher Simon, Calvin Ledet, Ferril Verret, Vernon Verret and Shane Verret.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
