Mary ‘Sis’ Journet

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 22, 2016, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Mary “Sis” Journet, 91, who passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 a.m. on Friday.
Rev. Neil Pettit will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia.
Mary “Sis” was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and attended mass regularly. Sis enjoyed visiting her family in Texas for every holiday, cooking, listening to her music, going to the casino, and visiting with friends. In early years she loved sewing, trail rides, shopping, and playing cards. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Vesta Babineaux; son, Clifford Sassau and wife Marcella; step daughter, Catherine Davis and spouse Joseph; 15 grandchildren, John Babineaux, Cynthia Bridges and spouse Joe, Anthony Babineaux and spouse Phyllis, Joanna Sassau, Jennifer Babineaux, Victoria Babineaux, Suzette Collins and spouse Henry, Dwayne Sassau, Herchel Thomas and spouse Keith, Keisha Richard, Nasha Sassau, Paulette Williams, Hebert “Paul” Williams and spouse Tanya, Albert Williams, and Aundry Babineaux and spouse Gladys; 32 great-grandchildren; and 37 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amilcar and Victoria Alexander Noel; son, Paul Williams; first husband, Alton Sassau; second husband, Lenny Journet, Sr.; brothers, Larry Noel, Artus Noel, and Eugene Noel; sisters, Lauren Noel, Gladys Noel, Bertha Mamou, Yolan Joe, Nola Derousselle, and Mary Pete; son-in-law, Ashton Babineaux; and step son, Lenny Journet, Jr.
