Lucy ‘Sue’ Martin

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Lucy “Sue” Martin, who passed away at her home on October 12, 2015, in the loving care of her family and Hospice of Acadiana.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and continue on Thursday from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rev. Rusty Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Father Rusty will be assisted by Deacon Joe Standridge.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Sue was a lifelong member of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, and also attended Notre Dame Catholic Church in her later years. She worked at the St. Martin Parish Assessor’s office for 30+ years before retiring in 1975. She was an avid LSU fan, mowed her own yard well into her 80s, and continued the tradition of a homemade family lunch on Sunday until her hospitalization. Although she never had children of her own, she was pleased to tell you that she had 52 “children” that loved and cared for her. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Her family asks that donations in her honor be made to St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church and Hospice of Acadiana.
Her brother, Edwin Martin, and sister, Cynthia Maraist, survive her along with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Her parents, Emile and Lottie Diehl Martin; brothers, William “Billy” and Emile Jr. “Buddy” Martin; and her sisters, Alice Martin, Francis Standridge, Elaine Mullen and Mary Pitman preceded her in death.
Pallbearers will be Ed Martin, Steven Standridge, Ted Martin, Jim Mullen, Ashley Mullen and Joe Standridge III.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Andy Griffin.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
