Lorraine ‘Rainie’ Z. Cormier

Breaux Bridge – A Funeral Service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Lorraine Z. Cormier, 48, who passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 2 .p.m until 9 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
A rosary was prayed by Deacon Perry Guidry at 7:30 pm on Friday.
Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert officiated at the Funeral Service. Readers were Britney Pousson and Reagan Forras. Gift bearers were her sons, Jarred and Justin Cormier.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Lorraine Marie Zerangue Cormier was born in Opelousas, La., to Deanna Taylor Menard and the late John Allen Zerangue. Rainie enjoyed working with disabled children, cooking for family and friends, camping, and going garage sale shopping for special finds and antiques. She will be remembered for her kind heart and always thinking of others. Rainie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 30 years, Dwight Cormier; two sons, Jarred and Justin Cormier; mother, Deanna Menard; mother- and father-in-law, Norma and John Allen Cormier; brother, Lonnie Zerangue; sister, Lorrie Forras and husband Robert “Bob”; brother-in-law, Dwayne Cormier and fiancée Nicole Borne; sisters-in-law, Melissa Patin and spouse Ryan, and Lauren Thibodeaux and spouse Dewey; godchild, Britney Pousson; nieces, Abbie Zerangue and fiancée Jordon Ryder, Reagan Forras, and Miley Cormier; nephews, Louis Patin and fiancée Naomi Stelly, Luke Patin and girlfriend Grace Richard, Everett Forras, Ethan Cormier, Brendyn and Karsyn Thibodeaux, and Colby Hamilton; great-niece, Paisley Ryder; great-nephews, Lawson Patin and Mason Miller; and her beloved pet, Sissy.
She was preceded in death by her son, Trent Cormier; father, John Allen Zerangue; step-father, Glenn Menard; brother, Nicholas Zerangue; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Isabel Zerangue; maternal grandparents, Moise and Lucy Taylor; and niece, Elyse Cormier.
Pallbearers were Lonnie Zerangue, Dwayne Cormier, Louis Patin, Ryan Patin, Dewey Thibodeaux and Robert “Bob” Forras.
The family would like to give special thanks to all the staff at Lafayette General 7th floor ICU, especially her nurse Blake, who gave her loving and compassionate care her last few days.
