Leroy Bonin

St. Martinville – A Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturay, August 27, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes, for Leroy Bonin, 89, who passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.
Visiting hours were observed from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and continued on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday by Sr. Ameline Theriot.
Father Joseph Padinjarepeedika officiated at the Funeral Service. Interment followed at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes.
Mr. Bonin was a veteran of the United States Navy. Leroy’s career in the dredging industry began at a young age when he went to work at McWilliams Dredging as a dishwasher. He later on advanced to become a Dredge Boat Captain for T.L. James, where he worked until his retirement. As a pastime he enjoyed playing cards, going dancing, and cooking.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Bonin and Clyde Landry and wife Brenda; daughters, Judy Patin and Robin Landry; brothers, Ledon Bonin and Lester Bonin; sisters, Delta Meaux and Delores Boudreaux; three grandchildren, Travis “Voo” Delhomme and wife Melanie, Brody Landry and wife Misty, and Gavin Landry and wife Kristen; six great-grandchildren Mia, Tripp, Braxton, and Parker Landry, Ethan Duhon and Mia Darbonne; and two great-great-grandchildren, Reese and Riley Darbonne.
He was preceded in death by wife, Hilda Boudreaux Bonin; his parents, Octave and Ursula LeBlanc Bonin; two sisters, Lucille Romero and Dorothy Terrill; his son-in-law, Gerald “Hammy” Patin; and his dear friend, Lana Blanchard.
His family would like to extend special thanks to A Caring Services, N.S.I. Hospice, and his caretaker, Pamela C. Thibodeaux, for the care and compassion given to him during his time of need.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
