Lawrence Joseph Gauthier

St. Martinville – A Memorial Service was held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel for Lawrence Joseph Gauthier, 88, who passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at home surrounded by his family.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The Marine Corps League will officiate at the Memorial Service.
Mr. Gauthier was a member of the Marine Corps League. He honorably served his country in the Marines and was a WWII Veteran in the Pacific. He was a career law enforcement officer for St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office, as a deputy and investigator and later as Chief of Police in St. Martinville. Mr. Gauthier attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and he was lifetime member of the NRA. He truly cherished moments spent with friends, family, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Poché Gauthier; sons, Jon Gauthier and wife Shawna of Dumfries, Va., and Glen Gauthier and wife Stacy of Plano, Texas; daughters, Carole Lancon and husband David of St. Martinville, Leslie Gauthier of St. Martinville and Janet Gauthier and husband Brad Hockmeyer of Taos, N.M.; sister, Isabelle Pointer of St. Martinville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Anatole Charles Gauthier Sr. and Agnes Rousseau Gauthier; two brothers, Anatole Gauthier Jr. and Dennis Gauthier; and five sisters, Marie Louise White, Gertrude Bienvenu, Inez Gauthier, Annette Gauthier and Therese Delcambre.
As per Mr. Gauthier’s request, his body was donated to science. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
