St. Martinville – A Funeral Service wase held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Broussard for Kenneth L. Fournet, M.D., 89, who passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Rev. Jessie Charpentier, Pastor Weldon Moak, Rev. Wallace Primeaux, Rev. Dore Langley and Fr. Bryce Sibley officiated at the Funeral Service.
Interment followed at Fournet Family Cemetery in St. Martinville.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Sibley Fournet; sons, Kenneth Fournet Jr. and wife Rachel, Ph.D. of Broussard and Dr. Timothy Fournet and wife Liz of Cookville, Tenn.; daughters, Renée Richter and husband Don of Sunset, Carrie Curet and husband John of Harvey, La., Cheryl Lambert and husband Mark of Lafayette, and Susan Elaine Fournet and husband Flabio Perez of Brooklyn, N.Y.; step son, George Jones and his wife Kathie; brothers, Glenn Fournet, Ph.D., Jon Seymour Fournet and Byron Fournet; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Hobson and Leone Livingston Fournet Sr.; his first wife, Elsie Raymona Cooper Fournet; daughter, Cynthia Fournet Moore; son, Ronald David Fournet; and brother, Phillip Hobson Fournet Jr.
Pallbearers were Ryan Richter, Kenneth Fournet III, Andrew Fournet M.D., Sean Curet, David Fournet, Samuel Fournet and Joshua Dore.
Honorary pallbearers were Lee Curet, Aaron Dore, Kris Patin and Ronald Barber.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
