Josephine Pete Joseph

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Josephine Pete Joseph, 81, who passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continued at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Monday at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary wase recited at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Joseph Campion officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Shelley Joseph and Sharee LeBlanc. Gift Bearers were Kalee and Jada Johnson.
Interment followed at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Josephine enjoyed having a good time, going to the casino, and doing things with her children. Being surrounded by her family and friends brought great joy into her life. Josephine always made it known that she was “The Mama.”
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Belva) Joseph; daughter, Veronica (Junius) Williams, daughter, Jerry Dean (Alton) Anthony of Saint Martinville, daughter, Joyce Celine Lewis, daughter, Georgia (Chuck) Mamou, daughter, Amanda (Brian) Noel; brother, Jessie Pete; 13 grandchildren, Alton Anthony Jr., Erica Cormier, Kasha Joseph, Sharee LeBlanc, Shelley Joseph, Crystal Mamou, Derek Anthony, Ricky Lewis Jr., Kenneth DeMonter, Edward Landry III, Christopher Joseph, Christina Joseph and Holland Landry; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Joseph Jr.; her parents, Antoine and Elena Gary Pete; a daughter, JoAnn Joseph; a son, James Joseph; her brother, Joseph Pete; two granddaughters, Amy Anthony and Raven Williams; a great-granddaughter, Kerri Joseph; and a nephew, Felton Fontenette.
Pallbearers were Alton Anthony Jr., Derek Anthony, Ricky Lewis, Kenneth DeMonter, Edward Landry III, Christopher Joseph and Holland Landry.
Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Pete, Michael Pete, Larry Joseph, Edward Landry Jr., Alton Anthony Sr., Chuck Journet, Brian LeBlanc, Irvin Jean Batiste, Bradford Landry and David Williams.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
