Joseph Winded Andrus Price

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Joseph Winded Andrus Price, 70, who passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers will be Joel Sam and Kayla Price. Gift Bearers will be Lorita Price JeanBatiste, Donald Harrison, Madeline Sam and Ean J. Price.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Mr. Price, also known by many friends as Windy or Andrew, had hobbies which included hunting, fishing, working as a diesel mechanic, and drag racing. He enjoyed conversing with family and friends often in Creole. Mr. Price was a very spiritual person who enjoyed praying the Our Father and Hail Mary in French.
He is survived by his son, James Bertrand Price Smith III of Lake Charles; daughter, Rena Adelia Price-Cryer and husband Jimmie of Miami, Fla.; former spouse, Betty G. Green; sisters, M. Murline Veronica Price-Quinealty of St. Martinville, Maydell Price Lassere of St. Martinville, Mazel Price Lee and husband MacArthur of Houston, Texas, Rena M. Price of Irving, Texas, Marthaline Price Savoy and husband Ronald of Opelousas, and Hattie Price Robertson and husband Jackie of Cade; brothers, Murphy J. Price Jr. of St. Martinville, and Emick J. Price Sr. and wife Shirley of St. Martinville; brother-in-law, Michael Joe Quinealty of Houma; grandchildren, Bertrand Smith, Brianna Smith and Bryson Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Murphy J. Price Sr.; mother, Madeline Savoy Price; brother, Harrison Price; and sister, Janita Price.
Pallbearers will be Councilmen Craig Gregory, Emick Price Jr., Michael Joe Quinealty, Jared Sam, Joel Sam and Ronald Savoy.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rena M. Price, Murphy J. Price Jr., Emick J. Price Sr., James Bertrand Price Smith III, Rena Adelia Price-Cryer, Adele Maria Lassere-Kelly, Calvin Mark Lassere and M. Murline Veronica Price.
