Joseph Williams

A World War 11 veteran and a resident of Arnaudville, La., and the husband of Ludy Benoit Williams for 68 years has died.
Mr. Joseph Williams, 89, died on December 24, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center. His services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2014, at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Ludy Williams of Arnaudville; four sons, Joseph Williams Jr. of Lafayette, Johnny (Johnnie Carol) Williams of Houston, Texas, Kenery (Genevieve) Williams of Atlanta, Ga., and Harry Williams of Arnaudville; and an adopted son, Rev. Ambrose Akalawu of Lafayette; two daughters, Marie “Rita” Williams of Arnaudville and Sandra Williams of Breaux Bridge; a nephew he raised, Joseph George Cormier; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elie and Lea Williams; sisters, Justina Joseph and Lovina Washington; brothers, Ernest, Mentor, Clifford, Felix, Ashby and George Williams; and two grandchildren, Byron Clement and Bridget Yvette Batiste.
Visitation will be held at Kinchen Funeral Home 1011 N. St. Antoine St., Lafayette, from 7 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
Kinchen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
