Joseph ‘Tatoo’ Scrantz

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Joseph “Tatoo” Scrantz, 90, who passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until time of service. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Rev. Michael Delcambre officiated at the Funeral Mass.
Interment followed at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Mr. Scrantz was the owner and operator of Scrantz’s Seafood Restaurant for 14 years and of R&S Seafood and Grocery in Grand Anse until his retirement. “Tatoo” enjoyed working; in addition to running his two businesses with his beloved wife Earlie, he also kept busy by raising cattle and crawfishing. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. He loved telling stories and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by two sons, Curley Scrantz and wife Renella of Cecilia, and Chris Scrantz and wife Marcia of The Woodlands, Texas; two daughters, Judy Breaux and husband Alton of Poche Bridge, and Charlene Broussard and husband Sidney of Breaux Bridge; eight grandchildren, Melanie (Kevin) Morgan, Kelly (Lindsey) Scrantz, Colette (Chip) Martinez, Tella (Jason) Dore, Dana Broussard, Colby (Claire) Broussard, Quintin Scrantz and Stefan Scrantz; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Earlie Guidry Scrantz; his parents, Albert and Eugenie Hebert Scrantz; his sisters, Theolene S. Roberts, Florence S. Dupuis, Felician S. Berard and Lucille S. Berard; his brothers, Theophile Scrantz, Evariste Scrantz and Alfred Scrantz; and his half-brother, Onezime Krantz.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia was in charge of arrangements.
