James ‘Jimmie’ Guidry

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for James “Jimmie” Guidry, 80, who passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at his residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville from 3 p.m. on Friday and continue until service time on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Jimmie was honorably discharged from the Air Force after eight years of service working as a Military Policeman. During his time he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
He enjoyed cooking for and hosting Sunday dinners with his family. Jimmie was known to many for his pralines, working on computers, and being an avid history buff. He was proud of all of his children, but especially his triplets (Karl, Kenneth and Kathy). Jimmie enjoyed visits from his godchild, Cynthia and her husband, Randy Hebert. He was always ready with a quick remark and advice for you, even if you didn’t want it.
Jimmie passed away at home surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 53 years, Eve Boudreaux Guidry; daughters, Kim Mullins and husband James of Breaux Bridge, Kathy Zerangue and husband Keane of Lafayette, Antonia Guidry of St. Martinville and Vicki Braud and husband Jeffrey of St. Martinville; sons, Karl Guidry and wife Paula of Youngsville and Kenneth Guidry and wife Pam of St. Martinville; grandchildren, Christopher and Jarett Guidry, Layne and Marissa Zerangue, Michael and Joshua Guidry, Amber Gaudet, Jacolby, Jaylon and Jordan Johnson, Jyson Patterson, and Chandler and Anneliese Braud; great-grandchildren, Kai Newsom and Violet Turner; step-grandchild, Rebecca Bass; step-great-grandchildren, Michelle and Ronald Bass; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, Louis and Antonia Guidry; siblings, Percy Guidry, Anna Bienvenu, Olive Bienvenu, Ida Reece and Jeanne Bryant; and in-laws, Wednes and Daisy Boudreaux.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Guidry, Jacolby and Jaylon Johnson, Layne Zerangue, Michael Guidry and Chandler Braud.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jarett Guidry, Joshua Guidry, Jordan Johnson, Jyson Patterson and Karl and Kenneth Guidry.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice Compassus, especially Brandi Delcambre and Haley.
