Howard Patrick ‘Pat’ Mullen

LaGrange, Ga. – Howard Patrick “Pat” Mullen, beloved husband, brother, father, and friend, passed away at home in LaGrange, Georgia on September 3, 2016, in the loving care of his family and West Georgia Hospice.
He was born in St. Martinville, Louisiana in 1947, the son of the late Elaine and Victor Mullen. He is survived by his wife, Valerie K. Martin; brother, Art Mullen and wife Charlene, brother Vic Mullen; and his children, Chris T. Steeley and wife Morgen, James H. Mullen and wife Esther, Amy R. Clopton and husband Mark, Martin L. Mullen and wife Julia, and Charles M. Mullen.
Pat will be forever remembered by his grandchildren, Audrey, Ellie, Jesse, Caroline, Charlotte, Amelia, Jake, William and Stephanie, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.
Pat had a diverse, successful career in American industry, working in the manufacture of sewing machines, liquid measuring devices, railroad equipment and tow trucks. He began his career with the Singer Company as a participant in their executive development program in Germany. Pat then progressed to sales executive positions with Neptune International, later becoming Vice President of sales at Trackmobile and President of Hersey Measurement. He also served as director of Miller Industries. Pat ended his career as an industrial executive in 1997, with retirement at the age of 50.
An avid outdoorsman his entire life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking. He was passionate about land and wildlife management, and enjoyed sharing his beloved farm with family and friends.
A celebration of Pat’s life was held on Saturday, September 17, at 2 p.m. at the Striffler Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, Georgia. Bryan Mullen led the service.
Memorial donations can be made to West Georgia Hospice Charitable Fund or to the Mullen Family Farm Fund for the management and upkeep of Pat’s farm in LaGrange as a continued source of enjoyment and recreation for family and friends.
