Harris ‘Chawee’ Guidry

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel for Harris “Chawee” Guidry, 83, who passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014.
Visiting hours were observed from 1:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continued at 8 a.m. until time of service on Monday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert conducted the funeral service.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Guidry, better known as “Chawee” to his family and friends, worked in the oilfield and sugar refinery industries for many years and was also a dairy farmer and the owner of H&L Arena and numerous race horses. He loved working in his garden, riding his 4-wheeler, and sitting on his porch listening to Cajun French music. “Chawee” most especially loved being with his family and friends.
He is survived by two sons, Larris Guidry (Paula Steele) and Edward Guidry; his daughter, Suzie Guidry; six brothers, Bobby Paul Hebert, Harold Guidry, Lee Roy “T-Neg” Blanchard, Howard “Black” Blanchard, Whitney Blanchard and his wife Faye, and Carrol Blanchard; six grandchildren, Cecile Stelly (David), Windy Romero (Todd), Lanette Boutte (Ernie), Kimberly LeBlanc (Edward), Ryan Guidry (fiancée Britney LeBlanc), and Laney Jo Guidry; and nine great-grandchildren, Kelsie, Jude, Riley, Seth, Drake, Addison, Katelynn, Kaydence and Edward LeBlanc IV.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Leona “Lu Lut” Frederick Guidry; his parents, Abel and Edna Blanchard and Marcus and Noelie Guidry; two brothers, Jim and Leland Blanchard; and his daughter-in-law, Doris Douet Guidry.
Pallbearers were Ernie Boutte, David Stelly, Ryan Guidry, Edward LeBlanc III, Todd Romero and Luke Blanchard.
Honorary pallbearers were Levi Grossie and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
