Genevieve “Jenny” Theriot

A Mass of Christian Burial wase celebrated at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Genevieve “Jenny” Theriot, 88, who passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continued at 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard officiated at the Funeral Mass. Readers were Tiffany Patin and Chelsea Segura. Gift Bearers were Amy Prosper, Payton Patin, Mikah Thibodeaux, Logan Patin and Leighann Reid. Music was provided by Pat Melancon and Liz Blanchard.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in Saint Martinville.
“Jenny” was a member of the Catholic Daughters and enjoyed playing card, shopping, cooking and vacationing.
She is survived by her son, Craig Prosper and his fiancé Jill Fremin of St. Martinville; her daughters, Becky Patin of St. Martinville, Tina Segura and her husband Ronnie of St. Martinville, and Kim Prosper of Lafayette; her ten grandchildren and her seven great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Lucille Champagne Theriot; her husband, Ben Prosper; her six brothers, Mitchell, Walter, Wallace, Lloyd, Homer and Alton Theriot; and her five sisters, Lena Laviolette, Marie Dutile, Eva Guilbeau, Rose Blanchard and Josie Landry.
Pallbearers were Gerard Patin, Laik Patin, Tyler Segura, Everett Alleman, Ben Prosper and Lance Prosper.
Honorary pallbearers were Drew Patin, Bayla Patin and Channing Patin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Acadiana and all of her caregivers.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana.
Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of arrangements.
