Evelyn Bienvenu Castex

Parks – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at St Joseph Catholic Church for Evelyn Bienvenu Castex, 95, who passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at St Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.
Visiting hours will be observed from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosarywill be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday and the American Legion Auxiliary Memorial followed the rosary. Visitation continues at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks on Tuesday at 9 a.m. until time of service.
Father Ed Degeyter, Father Donovan Labbe and Father Donald Pelous will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Lectors are George Hebert IV and Jennifer Kurts. Sister Ameline Theriot, family friend, will serve as Eucharistic Minister. Altar Server is Bud Roy, family friend. Her Eulogy will be given by George Hebert III.
Interment will follow at St Bernard Cemetery No. 1 - Mausoleum in Breaux Bridge.
Evelyn was the beloved wife of Harvey Castex Sr. and was born in St Martinville, Louisiana on April 9, 1920.
Our Mother lived life to the fullest and had a peaceful transition, surrounded by her family, into eternity with Jesus in Heaven. Through her inspiration she has shown her children what God’s love is all about.
Religion played a vital role in her life. Her faith was incredible and she had an extraordinary soul. She was not only beautiful, but touched the lives of everyone with her tremendous faith. She expressed her lifelong faith and love for God through her commitment and dedication to the Catholic Church. She loved her Priests and attended Mass whenever possible, until her death. Evelyn was actively involved for many years in her church parish of St Joseph Catholic Church in Parks, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, administering Communion to the homebound in her community; a charter member of the Altar Society, Catechism teacher, a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Parks Rosary Group, and a member of Parks American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved gardening and club activities. She devoted herself completely to being a wife and mother. She traveled statewide after raising her children, but found joy in the simpler pleasures of life -- her family, friends, and church.
We are so grateful for the times we shared together as a family. She shared a social glass of wine daily with family and friends and a special niece, and enjoyed reminiscing about the past. Her family meant the world to her.
She is survived by her son, Harvey Castex Jr. and wife Marlene of Parks; her daughters, Sandra LaHaye and husband James Sr. of Parks, and Marguerite Hebert and husband George III of Breaux Bridge; four grandchildren, Jennifer Kurts and husband James; James LaHaye Jr.; Mark Hebert and wife Marla; and George Hebert IV; and six great- grandchildren, Michelle, Andrew, John and Conrad Kurts, and Alex and Alyssa Hebert.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harvey Castex Sr.; her parents, Martin Bienvenu Sr. and Pauline Barras Bienvenu; two grandchildren, Allison Castex and Stephanie LaHaye; one great-grandchild, James Kurts II; and two brothers, Martin Bienvenu Jr. and James Bienvenu.
Our family is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support shown to Mother. Special thanks to her caregivers of many years, Jerri Quibodeaux, Emma Champagne, Jane Fontennette, Linda Theriot and Claudette Case. We would also like to give a special thank you to her doctor and nurses at St Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge for the devoted effort and care provided to her in her time of need.
Pallbearers are Mark Hebert, James LaHaye Jr., Andrew Kurts, Conrad Kurts, John Kurts and Alex Hebert.
Mother’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Mother’s kind spirit, zest for life, and her Catholic faith will live on through them.
