Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at St. Bernard Catholic Church’s Borel Center for Elsie Lasseigne, 98, who passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016, at River Oaks Retirement Manor.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2016. A rosary will be prayed at 1 p.m. on Thursday by Tina Breaux.
Rev. David Broussard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scripture readers will be Leslie Dumatrait and Michelle Stonecipher. Gift bearer will be Tina Breaux. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Elsie, better known to many as “Mamie” and “Ses,” was a lady with class, pride and the style of a “queen.” She was loved and admired for her wisdom, sweet personality, and her gentle sweet smile she gave to everyone she met in her life. In the eyes of her family she was known as “The Queen.” Elsie enjoyed sewing, cooking, and loved to dance. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Percy “P.J.” Hebert and wife Vickey of Lafayette; her daughters, Mary Helen Stevens and husband Hugh of Lafayette, Flossie Krantz of Lafayette and Noemie Gautreau and husband Gene of Baton Rouge; her sister, Juanita “Lillie” Guidry and husband Felix “Toloon” of Breaux Bridge; her daughter-in-law, Lou Anna Hebert of Nina; 14 grandchildren, Neal Hebert, Kim Hebert, Leslie Hebert Dumatrait, Hiedi Hebert, Mike Thibodeaux, Terra Guyote, Michelle Stonecipher, Kevin Krantz, Tracy Zitkovic Worsham, Frank Zitkovic, Sherete Gautreau White, Yvette Gautreau Brunson and Jim Gautreau; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wynonna Lasseigne; her sisters, Mabel Mendoza and Clelie Mary Berard; her brothers, Dorsey, Alphonse, Ivory and Cletus Broussard; her parents, O’Neil and Helen Lasseigne Broussard; and her husbands, Percy “Rue” Hebert and Lloyd Lasseigne.
Pallbearers will be P.J. Hebert, Neal Hebert, Kim Hebert, Timmy Dumatrait, Mike “T-Mike” Thibodeaux, Trent Guyote, Kevin Krantz and Frank Zitkovic.
Honorary pallbearers will be René Champagne, Jim Gautreau, Hugh Stevens, Gene Gautreau and Tommy Worsham.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana and the management and staff of River Oaks Retirement Manor, for the care they provided to her.
