Ellis ‘Tros’ Trosclair
Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Ellis “Tros” Trosclair, 78, who passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and continue on Wednesday at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be prayed by the Knights of Columbus at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Fr. Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Briana Trosclair and Ronnie Doré, and Gift Bearers will be his children.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Trosclair honorably served his country in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Woodmen of the World.
“Tros” enjoyed his work and was known for his outstanding cement work that he did for people in the community and surrounding parishes. He was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger and he never once gave a second thought about helping others who were in need.
As a pastime he loved traveling and collecting caps. He was a great cook and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gertie Doré Trosclair; two sons, Elliott Trosclair and wife Sandy of Breaux Bridge, and Jeff Trosclair of St. Martinville; his daughter, Sheila Champagne and husband Coby of St. Martinville; his brother, Nathan Trosclair and wife Marlene of Breaux Bridge; his sister, Shirley T. Broussard of Breaux Bridge; five grandchildren, Briana N. Trosclair, Brennan Trosclair, Brittany Trosclair, E’Llise Trosclair and Joshua Trosclair; two step grandchildren, Gabrielle and Laike Champagne; and a great-grandchild, Tate Bucher.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Marie Cormier Trosclair; and three sisters, Agnes Broussard, Martha Cormier and Viola Daigle.
Pallbearers will be Brennan Trosclair, Nathan Trosclair, Robert Kyzar, Henry Doré, Chester Bergeron and Phillip Cormier.
Honorary pallbearers will be his friends that he connected with throughout his life.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
