Edward LeBlanc Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Edward LeBlanc Sr., 83, who passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2014, at St. Martin Hospital.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 12 noon until 10 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. David Broussard officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Kaydence LeBlanc and Madeline LeBlanc. Gift Bearers were Katelynn LeBlanc, Jude LeBlanc and Cali LeBlanc.
Entombment followed at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. LeBlanc honorably served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for 23 years and was retired from the United States Army Corps of Engineers, where he worked as a field supervisor for 38 years.
He was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. As a pastime he enjoyed camping, fishing, listening to French music and going dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Earline Patin LeBlanc of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Edward LeBlanc Jr. and his wife Madeline of Breaux Bridge and Alberie Joseph LeBlanc and his wife Christy of Spring, Texas; his daughter, Joylyne Marie LeBlanc-Olsen and her husband Terry of New Iberia; two sisters, Matilda Thibodeaux of Lafayette and Lilly Mae Broussard and her husband Bruce of Lafayette; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberie and Madeline Borel LeBlanc; four brothers, Claydus, Murphy, Harry A. and Norris LeBlanc; and three sisters, Shirley Duhon, Barbara LeBlanc and Jeanne Bonin.
Pallbearers were Aaron Breaux, Edward LeBlanc III, Cord LeBlanc, Dane Hardy, Adam Johnson and William Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Jude Breaux, Donald Gibbons, Andrew LeBlanc and Edward LeBlanc IV.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
