Donald ‘Chick’ Calvit
St. Martinville – Memorial Services will be conducted on Thursday, September 10, 2015, for Donald “Chick” Earl Calvit, 63, who passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015.
The family will receive visitors beginning at 5 p.m. until memorial service at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory, 108 Hardware Road Broussard.
Donald or “Chick”, as he was affectionately known to his friends and family, was a resident of St. Martinville. He graduated from St. Martinville High School. During his working career he was a Print Shop Operator for Teche News for over 20 years and worked a short period of time for the Daily Iberian.
Donald was known for his happiness with life and for always being easy going. He was always a good friend and you could count on him for a good laugh. Donald enjoyed the outdoors and mostly the activities of fishing and crabbing. Those that knew him well knew that he loved dancing.
Those left with lasting memories of Donald “Chick” Calvit are two daughters, Taylor Calvit and Tara (Nick) Cadwell of Duson; mother, Cora Belle (Joseph) Picard of Broussard; father, Fred Calvit of Tomball, Texas; siblings, Neal Calvit and Leonard Picard of St. Martinville, Chris Calvit of Magnolia, Texas, Dale Holloway of Cypress, Texas, Terry Boudreaux of Lake Charles and Linda Winn of St. Martinville. He is also survived by a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Donald is preceded in death by wife Cheryl Calvit; brother Daniel Calvit; and step mother Sue Calvit.
