Denis Menard
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Denis Menard, 91, who passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. David Broussard officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Kelly Badeaux and Gift Bearers were Reneé Badeaux and Kris Jefferies.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Menard was a veteran of World War II, honorably serving his country in the United States Army. While serving during the war he was awarded the Infantry Medal, one Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the American Legion Post and recipient of the 60 year award. As a pastime he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Ruby Huval Menard of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Harold James Menard and wife Rose,of Poche Bridge, Jessie Menard and wife Belle of Butte LaRose, and Norman John Menard of Breaux Bridge; four grandchildren, Lisa, Khris, Shane and Kelly; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clesma and Odelia Thibodeaux Menard; three brothers, Jerome, Freddie “Nook” and Wiley Menard; and his sister, Eunice Morvant.
Pallbearers wrte his three sons, Harold, Jessie and Norman Menard, and Shane Menard, Brandon Huval, Kyle Badeaux and Reneé Badeaux.
Honorary pallbearers were Jason Cuevas and Ron Poirier.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their care and compassion and to his nurse, Desireé DeRouen, whom he admired.
