Charles A. Miller

Lafayette – Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Charles A. Miller, 78, who died on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Inurnment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lector will be Christie Simoneaux. Giftbearers will be Isis Vidrine and Julia Patten. Jodi Bollich, vocalist, accompanied by Tom Niel, organist, will sing for the services, “Amazing Grace,” “Just A Closer Walk With Thee,” “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman,” “Ave Maria” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
Survivors include his beloved of 53 years wife, Jo Ann Olivier Miller; two daughters, Charmaine Miller Mosing and her husband Kendall, and Anneysa Miller Vidrine; one sister, Charlotte Patten and her husband Patrick; four grandchildren, Taylor Kimball, Charles Thomas Vidrine, Isis Vidrine and Gabriel Vidrine; two great-grandchildren, Tripp Kimball and Tessa Kimball; his mother-in-law, Lucille Olivier; and one aunt, Vesta Garrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clell and Felicianne Angelle Miller; his father-in-law, Alton Olivier; and one son-in-law, Thomas Vidrine.
Charles A. Miller was born in Cankton, Louisiana and was a resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He was a Veteran of military service, having proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Miller worked in the financial industry for over 46 years, spending 25 years at First National Bank and 17 years at Capital One Bank, where he served as Vice President of Capital One Business Development. He was a member of the Civil Service Board of Lafayette, and the Sertoma Club, where he served as President during his tenure. Mr. Miller enjoyed volunteering, and worked with the Special Olympics, and with 4-H and Agriculture students.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Kimball, Charles Thomas Vidrine, Gabriel Vidrine, Jason Patten, David Guidroz, and Christopher Kimball. Honorary pallbearers will be Howell Dennis, Jack Patin, Paul Dunand, Clyde Landry, Martin Barrient, Kendall Mosing, Joseph Gresko, Patrick Patten and William Taylor.
A Rosary will be recited by Brady LeBlanc on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 6:30 p.m. in Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN Location.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of services.
