Charles Harold Smith

Charles Harold Smith, 74, passed peacefully on March 6, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Harold was born May 11, 1941, the son of Ruby Lee (Yarbrough) and Claude Smith in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was married to his beloved wife and “Angel” Ann Smith for 18 years. Harold was a retired mechanic from Baker Hughes, but he never stopped working on his many “projects” and a never ending “to-do” lists.
The family wishes to remember and thank his special friend and boss Buddy Adams.
Harold is survived by his wife, Ann Smith; children Darlene Reeder (Russell) of Olla, La., Beth Olson (Robin) of Jena, La., David Smith (April) of Farmerville, La., Dewain Smith of Olla, La., Mark Maras (Garry Breaux) of St. Martinville, La., and Jeffrey Maras (Tim Haworth) of Springfield, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and his many four-legged “grandpets.”
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Lee and Claude Smith; sister, Mary Ann Smith-Prince; daughter, Karry Collins and her husband Jack; son-in-law Kevin “Buster” Taylor; and grandchildren Charles Lewis Taylor and Kevin Darell Taylor Jr.
Harold was a man with a kind and loving heart who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to thank the wonderful and caring staff of Acadian Hospice and especially Director Rose Campbell and Harold’s special nurse, Marla Holbert, who cared for Harold in his final weeks.
Harold will be remembered at a private family memorial service on Thursday, March 10, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made in Harold’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
