Catherine Bernard Romero

St. Martinville – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Catherine Bernard Romero, 76, who passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continued on Friday at 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Rev. Donovan Labbé officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Dorothy Jeansonne. Gift bearers were Alysha Darden, Kinly and Tyler Romero, Halie and Brylie Landry, and Alexis and Bree Bonin.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Catherine loved cooking, fishing, crabbing, playing Bingo and going to the casino. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Catherine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sons, David Romero and wife Margaret, and Christopher Romero and wife Dana; her daughters, Brenda Bonin and husband Neil, Susan Picard and husband Donald, and Julie Romero and husband Jean; nine grandchildren, Jude, Jobie, Meagan, Cathy, Blake, Tameca, Josh, Kinly and Matt; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Doris Landry Bernard; her son, Jerry Allen Romero; a granddaughter, Holly Picard; and her sisters, Patsy Bernard Montin and JoAnna B. Champagne Durbin.
Pallbearers were Jude, Jobie and Sage Bonin, and Josh, Blake and Matt Romero.
Honorary pallbearers were David and Christopher Romero, Neil Bonin, Donald Picard and Jean Talley.
