Barbara Simon Snell
Lafayette – A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 1 p.m. in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Barbara Simon Snell, 84, who died on Monday, July 4, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Reverend Steve LeBlanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be the celebrant.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Christine Snell Dugas and husband Robert M. Dugas, Jr., Deborah Snell Savoie and husband Richard J. Savoie, William Warren Snell, and Lee C. Snell and wife Ivette; her daughter in law, Rita Snell; her sisters, Eloise Simon Bryant and Katherine Simon Monin; her grandchildren, Richard J. Savoie II, Stacy A. Savoie, Jena Barbara Snell, Sean William Snell, Jeret Michael Snell and wife Cassie Caballero Snell, Justin B. Scott, Kristen O. Scott, and Kaylee B. Snell; her great grandchildren, Grayson J. Dalrymple, Hailey Lauren Snell, and Hudson Michael Snell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Judge James D. Simon and Eloise Stone Simon; her husband, Leroy Warren Snell, Jr.; her son, David James Snell, Sr.; her grandson, David James Snell, Jr.; and her daughter in law, Vicky Marie Snell.
A native of St. Martinville and a resident of Lafayette for the past 18 years, Barbara was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy High School in St. Martinville and attended Dominican College in New Orleans. She retired from Hewlett Packard in Metairie after many years of dedicated service. Her joys included traveling, sewing, gardening, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara was a parishioner of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she served in the Perpetual Adoration Ministry. She will best be remembered for her generosity and willingness to help others in need.
The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 11 a.m. until time of services.
