Antoine ‘Tony’ Melancon

Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Antoine “Tony” Melancon, 80, who passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Rev. David Broussard officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial. Scriptures were read by Colin Castille, Callie Melancon and Gabbi Castille. Gift bearers were Lexi Boyer, Matthew Melancon, Anna Melancon, Taylor Thibodeaux, Laykin Usie and Kynlee Usie.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Antoine “Tony” was employed with Borden’s for 25 years and at one time he owned his own business, Tony & Luna’s Hungry House, in Breaux Bridge. His strength to endure all obstacles physically is more than anyone could handle or imagine. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Tony enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Melancon and wife Maggie of Parks; daughters, Mickey Boyer, Mitzy Thibodeaux and husband Johnny of Breaux Bridge, Sandra Castille and husband Mike, and Liz Stinson and husband Jody of Carencro; step-daughter, Pattie Babineaux and husband Bab; brothers, Howard and Lester Melancon; two sisters, Elaine and Susan Melancon; 19 grandchildren, Paige, Drake, Gabbi, Colin, Michelle, Gary, Joshua, Danielle, Brooks, Megan, Jamin, Jacob, Matthew, Callie, Anna, Bret, Lexi, Shawn and Laice; and 19 great-grandchildren, Caynon, Paiton, Colston, Ridge, Ryland, Laykin, Kynlee, Taylor, Scarlet, Jayce, Isabella, Riley, Charlie, Trinity, Destiny, Jorda, Cadence, Stryker and Haylie.
He was preceded in death by wife, Luna Boutte Melancon; grandson, Jeremy Boyer; his parents, Henry and Elianne Melancon; his sister, Verna LeBlanc; and his brothers Henry Melancon Jr. and Simon Melancon.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Melancon, Jacob Melancon, Jody Stinson, Joshua Thibodeaux, Gary Usie and Drake Mire.
Honorary pallbearer was his son-in-law, Jerry Boyer.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Miss Louanna Dugas, Julie Nicholas, Miss Pattie, Dr. Angela Snow, Dr. Roth, and special nurses and CNAs who cared for him from Lafayette General Medical Center.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
