Alvin Francis Fitch
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Alvin Francis Fitch, 64, who passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.
Visiting hours were observed from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, and continued on Friday at 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. A rosary was prayed at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
Fr. Keith Landry officiated at the Funeral Mass and conducted the funeral service with Fr. Donovan Labbe serving as con-celebrant. Scriptures were read by Diana Pierrotti and Billy Fitch. Gift Bearers were Rachel Verret and Chase Franks.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Fitch was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus, serving as a 3rd Degree member in Henderson, Honor Guard, Deputy Grand Knight, and Grand Knight of the Henderson Council. He received the Knight of the Year twice, and the Star Council Award from Supreme. He served as the membership coordinator bringing over 14 new members to the council while serving. Alvin was also a 4th Degree member, Inner Sentinel, membership director of 4th Degree of Borella Assembly, while also bringing in 12 - 14 members to the council in 4th Degree. He was the recipient of the William Wade Memorial Award. During his 10 years as a Knight, he was most loved by his brother knights; they will miss him greatly for all of his accomplishments.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Landry Fitch; his son, Dylan Fitch and friend Makala LeBlanc; his daughter, Kimberly Soileau and husband Jody; five brothers, Joseph Fitch, Paul Fitch and wife Debbie, Myron Fitch and friend Darlene, James Fitch and John Fitch; three sisters, Pauline Davis, Delores Theriot and husband Nelson, and JoAnn Artigue and husband Allen; and two grandchildren, Kylar Richard and Shelbie Soileau.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Virginia Billiot Fitch; his brother, Tommy Fitch; and five sisters, Genevieve Leonard, Maryann Bordelon, Teresa Eaton, Shirley Rogers and Geraldine Fitch.
Pallbearers were members of the 4th Degree Assembly, George Choplin Jr., Carol Comb, Keith Zeringue, Ricky LeBlanc, Curt Degeyter and Norman Broussard Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining assembly members.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
