Albert Ledet, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 201 Gary St, St. Martinville, LA 70582, for Albert (Son) Ledet, Jr.
The family request that visiting hours be observed from 8 a. m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday at Notre Dame Catholic Church.
Albert (Son) Ledet was born on December 22, 1928 in St. Martinville, Louisiana to the proud parents of Albert and Mary Theresa Gardner Ledet, Sr. He transitioned from his earthly life into eternal rest on Thursday, January 8, 2015.
Albert was the second to the oldest of six children. At the age of 18, he joined the Army and served from 1946-1948, during his period in the military, Albert served in the Korean War. After his return from the military, Albert began working for St. Martin Oil Company where he worked for 74 years. Albert served on the Notre Dame Usher Board and American Legion Post 419. During his younger days, he served as an altar boy.
Albert met his true love, Dorothy G. Polite and they were married on November 24, 1956. They recently celebrated 58 wonderful years of marriage. To this union was born, Albert Ledet, III and Dodie J. LaMott.
Mr. Son was loved by many with his joyful smile and laughter. He always had a giving spirit and heart, no-one was ever a stranger to him. Mr. Son was a God-fearing man who prayed on his knees morning, noon and night. He prayed the rosary often and even in his illness he could still recite his Our Father and Hail Mary.
Albert (Son) Ledet leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 58 years, Ms. Dorothy Ledet,; his son, Albert Ledet, III; daughter, Dodie LaMott; grandchildren, Bryson Boudreaux, Laishia Duhon, Ross Ratliff, Ebony LaMott and Craig LaMott, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Qunell Duhon, Qunaishia Duhon, Jonah R. LaMott, Arie Duhon; sister, Helen Matthews, brothers Malcolm Ledet and Winnfield Ledet. He also leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Theresa Gardner Ledet, his sister Theresa Spencer, brother Norman Ledet, Sr., grandson, Brandon Boudreaux, and his son-in-law, Craig LaMott, Sr.
