Parks shooting leaves one dead

The victim of an accidental shooting that occurred last Saturday in the 5300 block of Bridge St. Hwy/LA 347 in the Promiseland neighborhood of Parks, passed away early Monday.
The St. Martin Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a negligent injury charge against Ryan Jeffery, 17, of Parks, has been upgraded to negligent homicide.
Police responding to reports of a shooting after 9 p.m. Saturday arrived to find a young male with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, but died later from his injuries.
After an investigation, Jeffery was arrested on Sunday. A bond of $25,000 has been set.
