Rita Mary Barras Roberts

Lafayette – Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at a 10 a.m. Catholic Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Rita Mary Barras Roberts, 90, who died Sunday, January 8, 2017, at River Oak Retirement Manor.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will officiate the services. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, “Be Not Afraid,” “Ava Maria,” “Amazing Grace,” “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “On Eagles Wings.”
She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Rusella Menard and her husband Joe, Lorna Boudreaux and her husband Huey, Christine Roberts and her partner Ratana Landry, and Maureen Hardy and her husband Reggie; six grandchildren, Anita Roberts Long and her husband Thomas, Derrick Menard and his wife Mindy, Brady Boudreaux, Brandy DeBaillon and her husband René, Stacie Hardy and Hunter Hardy; 11 great-grandchildren, Emma, Adam, Will and Luke Long, Mae DeBaillon, Abigail and André Boudreaux, and Chassidy, Madelyn, Andrew and Emily Menard; three sisters, Marie Thibodeaux, Hilda Bourque and Enola Boudreaux Choplin; and one brother, Eldridge Barras.
Rita Mary Barras Roberts was a native of St.Martinville and a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Javis Joseph Roberts; her parents, Wilfrid and Clemence Frederick Barras; four sisters, Ann, Clemence, Yola and Inez; and one brother, Wilcliff Barras.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Roberts will be Brady Boudreaux, Tom Long, René DeBaillon, Perry Thibodeaux, Wilfrid Thibodeaux and Hunter Hardy.
A Rosary will recited by Brady LeBlanc on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 7 p.m .
The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will continue on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 8 a.m. until time of services.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and River Oaks Retirement Manor, especially Michelle (Big Mama) and Angel, for their kindness, compassion and gentle care given.
