Emile Olivier
Breaux Bridge – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Emile Olivier, 92, who passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Visiting hours were observed at the funeral home from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday and continued on Saturday at 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Friday by Mrs. Wildie Roberts.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Emile was a veteran of the United States Army, honorably serving our country in WWII. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0133 and the VFW. Emile was an honorary member of the Lafayette Ladies Quilting Society making lap quilts for those in wheel chairs. He was a faithful member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, serving for many years as a Eucharistic Minister. Emile was a resident of River Oak Manor, while representing them as King and a Sr. Olympic winner. He will be remembered for playing in the band and entertaining the residents of River Oak Manor.
Emile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Don Olivier and wife Dianne of Breaux Bridge, Bobby Olivier of Breaux Bridge, and Kenneth Olivier and wife Priscilla of Cecilia; daughter, Mary Olivier of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother, Jimmy Olivier and wife Aline of Ponchatoula; sisters, Mary Smith of Arnaudville and Alice Darby of Arnaudville; grandchildren, Cy C. Olivier, Craig M. Olivier, John Olivier, Jenny Olivier, Ashley LaFrance, Charlene Boberick, Melanie Tabor, Suzie Hollier, Robin Mowrey and Blair Champagne; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Alfreda Taylor Olivier; former wife, Evelyn Olivier, and wife, Armance Olivier; son, Rodney Olivier; brothers, Dalton Olivier, Clarence “Blue” Olivier and David Olivier; sister, Emmaline Olivier; and daughters-in-law, Renella Olivier and Gail Olivier.
Pallbearers were Cy C. Olivier, Craig M. Olivier, John Olivier, Rodney Fuselier, Carrol “Hook” Willingham and Lane Champagne.
Honorary pallbearers were his sons.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
