Eugene ‘Gene’ Leonard Resweber IV

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Eugene “Gene” Leonard Resweber IV, 28, who passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016, in Houston, Texas.
Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Rev. Steve LeBlanc was the Celebrant. Rev. Keith Landry and Rev. Garrett Savoie Con-Celebrated.  
A gathering of family and friends was held on Thursday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia and continued on Friday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia.
Eugene “Gene” Leonard Resweber IV was born in Dallas, Texas, on February 6, 1988, to Cecilia Ferrara Resweber and Eugene Leonard Resweber III.  He was a long time resident of St. Martinville and was a 2006 graduate of Catholic High School. He attended Kettering University in Flint, Michigan, and Louisiana State University where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. He was a Brother of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He worked as an engineer in the oil and gas industry for GeoTrend for the last year, and has several U.S. patents to his name. Gene was very passionate about football and politics, but he was most proud to be a father to Huxley.
Gene is survived by his parents, Cecilia Ferrara and Eugene “Blue” Leonard Resweber III;  son, Huxley Alexander Resweber, all of Houston, Texas;  sisters, Marie-Louise Resweber Bridgeman and husband Steve of Austin, Texas, and Annemarie Resweber of Baton Rouge; brother, Ian Resweber of Baton Rouge; maternal grandmother, Annette Ferrara of Pensacola, Fla.; four aunts, two uncles and 11 first cousins.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Patricia Ditch and Eugene “Brother” Resweber Jr. of St. Martinville; and maternal grandfather Kelly Ferrara of Pensacola, Fla.
Serving as pallbearers were Ian Resweber, Steve Bridgeman, Gordy Doerle, Harrison Hymel, Daniel Hebert, Nader Rabie, Anthony Bulliard and Cody Schwing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eugene Resweber IV Memorial Scholarship Fund at Catholic High School, 1301 DeLa Salle Dr., New Iberia, LA, 70560.
