Parks – A Memorial Service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Dolores Ann McGee, 67, who passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
A rosary was prayed at 12:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service.
Rev. Donovan Labbé, Rev. Donald Pelous and Rev. Ed Degeyter officiated at the Memorial Service. Scriptures were read by Emile Olivier. Gift Bearers were Grace Olivier and Jade Ardoin.
Interment followed at St. Paul Cemetery in Eunice.
Dolores was a member of Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana and was active in the Catholic Daughters, Court of St. Gregory. She was in the education system for 34 years as a school teacher. In her years of teaching, she gave many of her students the tools they needed to survive and be successful. She enjoyed cooking, baking, visiting with friends, especially with her classmates, caring for her animals, crocheting, a T.V. viewer of selected programs, traveling, and an avid true Saints football fan. In her spare time, you could find her coloring in her adult coloring App. Dolores will be remembered for her sense of humor, strong faith, and courage which guided her throughout her life.
She is survived by her sisters, Glenda Marceline McGee of Parks and Vivian Marie Roberts of Scott.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille McGee; maternal grandparents, Cecille and Plenty McGee; infant nephew, adult nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the doctors and staffs of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Hospice of Acadiana, for the wonderful care that was given to her during her illness.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1034 Bridge Street Hwy., Parks, LA 70582, or to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
