Chester John Latiolais
Catahoula – A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 3, 2016, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Chester John Latiolais, 92, who passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
Visiting hours were observed at Dion Hallfrom 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday and continued on Monday at 7 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
A rosary was prayed at 7 p.m. on Sunday by the American Legion Post 289.
Rev. Richard Fabre officiated at the Mass of Christian Burial. Scriptures were read by Angé Latiolais and Patsy Blanchard and gift bearers were Charly and Abbi Latiolais.
Înterment followed at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.
Mr. Latiolais honorably served his Country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from construction work and also from the Catahoula Water System. He was a member of various organizations including Richard Champagne American Legion Post 289, Catahoula Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus and the Catahoula Dirt Movers baseball team. He was an usher at St. Rita Catholic Church. He had a love for carpentry work, watching all sports, especially the Saints and LSU. He enjoyed playing guitar for local night clubs in the 40’s and 50’s and also for the Catahoula Mardi Gras Carnival.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 52 years, Barbara Lasseigne Latiolais; sons, Aaron Latiolais and wife Dain of Catahoula, Dwayne Latiolais and wife Dawn of Catahoula, Clayton Latiolais and wife Angé of St. Martiville, and Leonard Latiolais and wife Tenille of Catahoula; daughter, Lynette Melancon and husband Kim of Henderson; sister, Ella Mae “Tit Tit” Latiolais of Catahoula; grandchildren, Briss Latiolais, Torian Latiolais, Caine Latiolais, Devin Latiolais, Austin Latiolais, Krislyn Latiolais, Charly Latiolais and Abbi Latiolais; step-grandchildren, Leryn Richaud and spouse, Jaime, Rylen Doucet, Lindsey Melancon and Sydni Melancon; and step-great-grandchild, Klyne Richaud.
He was preceded in death by father, Angest Latiolais; mother, Felecia Courville Latiolais; brother, Clarence Latiolais; sisters, Emma Lou Bourque, Pauline Guidry and Elizabeth “Zin” Champagne; and daughter-in-law, Cathy Braquet Latiolais.
Pallbearers were Briss Latiolais, Torian Latiolais, Caine Latiolais, Devin Latiolais, Austin Latiolais and Krislyn Latiolais.
Honorary pallbearers were Charly Latiolais, Abbi Latiolais, Rylen Doucet and Sydni Melancon.
Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
