Back to School!

The majority of St. Martin Parish’s public school students head back to their classrooms tomorrow (Thursday), although pre-K and kindergartners will not start classes until Monday.
More than 8,000 children are expected at the parish’s 16 school campuses.
Back to School meetings were held with all professional and support staff over the past week with new employees given two days of intense training relative to school policies and procedures. Teachers, administrators, supervisory staff, and designated instructional aides met on Monday and Tuesday for professional learning activities. Bus operators met on Tuesday.
Today (Wednesday) all professional employees were scheduled to review back to school protocol, school board policies and procedures with a follow-up of mandated diversity training at their respective schools.
School Supt. Dr. Lottie Beebe says that all classrooms are staffed with teachers. “School officials and employees are eager to welcome back to school our pre-K-to 12 grade students,” she added.
“We look forward to another exciting year of teaching and learning and will adhere to our theme: Moving Forward … Enhancing the Vision,” Dr. Beebe said in a statement issued Monday. “Parents and other education stakeholders are encouraged to utilize the St. Martin Public Schools website to obtain vital information relative to student success.
Open House programs are scheduled at each of the parish schools on the following dates:

•Breaux Bridge Jr. High – Tuesday, Aug. 16, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
•Breaux Bridge High – Tuesday, Aug. 23, 6 p.m.
•Breaux Bridge Primary – Wednesday, Aug. 24, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

•Cecilia Primary – Kindergarten, Wednesday, Aug. 10, 6 -7 p.m.
Pre-K, Thursday & Friday, Aug.11 - 12, during testing times.
1st grade, Monday, Aug. 15 - 6 - 7 p.m.
2nd grade, Tuesday, Aug. 16, 6 - 7 p.m.
