Gayle Adam ‘Gab’ Blanchard

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge in Breaux Bridge, for Gayle Adam “Gab” Blanchard, 73, who passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, in Breaux Bridge.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 12 noon until 10 p.m. on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m..
A rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Blanchard was a dedicated educator for 44 years as a Teacher, Supervisor, and Director with the St. Martin Parish School Board and retired in 2011. He was an Alderman for the City of Breaux Bridge, and a founding member of Attakapas Hunting Club in Butte la Rose.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 24 years Philippa Whipp Blanchard; sons, Byron Blanchard and wife Donna of Breaux Bridge; Kevin Blanchard and wife Melissa of Breaux Bridge, daughter, Jessalyn Newton and husband Chad; sister, Cheryl Courville and husband Alvin of Breaux Bridge; Grandchildren, Blakeley, Laural, Avery and Aaron Blanchard.
He was preceded in death by father, Alfred “Bee Bee” Blanchard, mother, Lillian H. Blanchard, brothers, Alfred “Joe” Blanchard, Jr., Richard “Dickie” Blanchard and Keith Blanchard.
Pallbearers will be Alvin Courville, Richard Owens, Stewart Vandenburg, Charley Whipp, John Dever, and James Hamilton, Sr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Attakapas Hunting Club.
Family would like to express their appreciation to his caretakers, Anita Carter and Kelly Pierson.
